Your wedding band is one of the most special things you will ever own. However, some people choose to have their wedding band even more special by adding a personalized engraving added to it. This isn't a very expensive process, and it can be a wonderful gift for a partner.
If you do opt for an engraving, we know that there are so many possibilities to choose from that it can become a bit overwhelming. To help, here we share some of our best engraving ideas and answer some frequently asked questions.
Here are our top three reasons for getting your wedding band engraved.
Your wedding band is an incredibly precious object, symbolizing your union with your partner. However, unlike engagement rings, wedding bands are usually much simpler, so it is more difficult to make them feel unique to you. Adding an engraving allows you to add this personal touch.
Getting your wedding band engraved allows you and your partner to commemorate a special date in your lives. It could be your wedding or engagement day or another event altogether. It is a private way to quietly remind yourself of a significant moment in your life.
You can have your wedding band engraved on the outside of the ring, but it is traditional to have the engraving on the inside of the ring. This means that the engraving remains a secret between you and your partner, which is both fun and romantic.
Whether you have a tungsten wedding band, a ceramic wedding band, or any other kind of band, adding an engraving can be done easily. At Steven G Designs we give you the option to add an engraving to your ring at the time of purchase using our convenient engraving listing. The link to the listing is here:

What better way to commemorate some of your most important dates than with an anniversary engraving? It could be the day that you met, the anniversary of your first date, or the anniversary of your engagement.
Some books and their characters really make an impression – and the best ones become a part of who you are. If your partner has a favorite line from her favorite book, nothing is going to feel more special than seeing this engraved on your wedding band.
Whether you find a romantic poem that speaks to your romance, or you already have a favorite poem as a couple, having a line engraved on your band can be a constant reminder of your love story.
A classic idea is to have your partner's initials onto each other's band. It's a subtle but romantic gesture to say that not only are you married, but you are with each other throughout the day.
Some ideas include 'I Love You,' ‘Always and Forever,’ and 'Love Endures,' but there are hundreds of others. This is for the more sentimental souls out there. It is a wonderful way to tell your partner you love them all day long.
On your tungsten wedding band, you may want to get a song lyric engraved. This could be a song that made a particular impact, it could be a song that reminds you of a certain part of your courtship, or it might be a song lyric that simply seems to explain your relationship in a beautiful way.
If faith is an important part of your life, you may want to choose a line or verse from the Bible or another religious book. This verse might be used at your wedding, or it might simply mean a lot to you.
On your ceramic wedding band, you may enjoy engraving a line from Old English. It has an ancient and earthy feel, and it is a great choice if your partner enjoys history or old literature.
Adding a family name can be a really moving option. If your partner has changed her name, you could write her new family name, a gentle nod to the future you will build together. You could also write her maiden name as a sweet reminder of the time together before she was married and the person you fell in love with.
Split messages are a very sweet option. The idea is that half the phrase will be engraved on your band, and the other phrase will be engraved on hers. This way, the rings are only really complete when they are together.
On his tungsten wedding band, you could engrave the location of a place that has been significant in your life. Perhaps it is the place you met or the location of your courtship. It could also be his favorite place, the location of his ancestors, or the place you both hope to live together in the future.
Engraving the date that you tied the knot is a classic. It has the added benefit of meaning neither of you will forget the date when the anniversary approaches!
The vows can be one of the most special aspects of a wedding. They have usually taken weeks to write and maybe some of the most romantic things you ever say to one another. Because of this, they can be a beautiful addition to a wedding band. This way, these special words are carried with you forever.
On his ceramic wedding band, nickname engravings can be a lovely gesture. This is particularly so if you have special names for each other that perhaps no one else knows.
This is a less serious engraving option, but it can be just as romantic. If there is a joke that makes him laugh, particularly an inside joke shared between you two, this can be a fun and loving addition.
If either you or your partner speaks a second language, you could have an important phrase engraved in that language. If your partner has a close connection with their heritage, this will add another layer of significance to the band.
If you and your partner have a favorite film that had a particular impact, you could use a line from it to engrave on your wedding band. The film does not necessarily need to be a romantic one. All that is important is that the film means a lot to you both.
These days, you can even have an image engraved on your wedding band, but it has to be simple. Some ideas include a love heart and the infinity symbol.
Some fantasy fans enjoy having elvish or similar languages engraved on their wedding bands. You can find the direct translation of your chosen phrase online, and the engravers will copy this onto your band.
Whether you call each other 'Baby,' 'Sweetie,' 'Love,' or anything else, terms of endearment can add a very personal touch to your rings.
There are dozens of wedding ring engraving styles for your tungsten or ceramic wedding band, and they will also vary on the engraver you choose. But some ideas include:
There is so much to consider when you have your wedding rings engraved. After all, you want to keep this engraving for the rest of your life. Here we share some of our tips to help you engrave your tungsten or ceramic wedding band, or other precious metal wedding ring.
We know that you want to get this right, so take your time contemplating the options. You can always engrave at a later date, which means that if you have hundreds of ideas, and you're finding it difficult to settle on something, you don't need to worry.
One way to narrow down your ideas is by thinking about ring size. If you have large size finger and have chosen a large size band then you will be able to choose a longer phrase. If your ring is for a small finger size then it might be better to opt a shorter phrase, such as, a couple of words or just a date.
Don't be afraid to combine ideas. If you want a love heart with a word, most engravers will be able to do that for you.
Most jewelers happily offer some kind of engraving service. So even if you buy online, or you don't live in a capital city, you should be able to go to a jeweler and ask them to help you.
Whether you have a tungsten or a ceramic wedding band, how your engraving will look depends on the jeweler you choose. So, check out their past work online, read reviews, and speak to them in advance about your ideas. At Steven G Designs we have done a few thousand engravings over the years. You can also look at the reviews on our website and see many satisfied customers who have had their rings engraved by us.
There is no perfect time to have your wedding ring engraved. The engravings can be done at any point, so it's more about when you and your partner feel the time is right.
Some people wait until after the wedding but most of our customers get their ceramic or tungsten wedding band rings engraved when they order their rings. This is more convenient because when they receive their rings that part of preparing for the wedding is completed. They don’t have to think about where to send the rings out for engraving and wait a number of days to get them back.
Engravings can make your rings incredibly special, yet they remain relatively inexpensive. Although exact costs will vary depending on your location, the phrase you choose, and the jeweler you choose, a ballpark figure is usually somewhere around $20 - $50 CAD. At Steven G Designs, since the ring was purchased from us, we give all our customers a reduced price of only $16 CAD.
If your engraved rings do not fit, then this can be troublesome. Because of this, we strongly suggest to all our customers to get their finger measured at a local jewelry shop or purchase a finger ring sizer. We sell a finger ring sizer for only $10 CAD and give you a $15 discount on any ring you purchase from us. Here is the link to the finger ring sizer listing:
We strongly suggest not using the paper or strong methods at home to measure a finger ring size. These methods re rarely accurate.

Rings that have been engraved by us cannot be exchanged or returned. However, we do work with our customers to find a solution to this problem and most of the time we do give a generous discount for a repurchase of the ring.

With engraving, you can then enhance the rings your share with your partner in so many ways – using phrases, symbols, dates, nicknames, and more.
We hope our list gave you plenty of engraving ideas to consider for your band. Think about which is most personal to your partner and then surprise them with the gift of a lifetime.
